The Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday that 38,683,134 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been applied in the country, bringing the total number of immunized to 16,223,761.

Regarding the first dose, 22,459,373 have been applied, while the second dose has been injected 13,412,863, and those immunized with a single dose reached 2,810,898.

By region, Bogotá is the area of the country where more doses of coronavirus vaccines have been applied with more than seven million, followed by Antioquia with more than five million and Valle del Cauca with more than three million doses.

Problems in vaccine distribution?

The director of promotion and prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gerson Bermont, explained the reason why the doses of the Moderna vaccine that arrived in the country on September 19 have not been distributed to vaccination posts nationwide.

According to the official, the drugs do not have the quality certificates that must be delivered by the pharmaceutical company and for that reason it has not been possible to distribute them.

"Every batch that arrives in the country must comply with quality certificates to be able to enter them into the inventory of the Ministry and thus begin the distribution process," said Bermont.

These certificates have not been delivered for the last batch of vaccines, corresponding to 689,220 doses, but the official explained that they would be delivered in the next two to three days.
