He was one of the people behind Empire Radio, the short wave pirate, then went on to found the Birmingham FM pirate EST before going on to The Voice of Peace and Radio Caroline. UK government to test emergency alert system on 23rd April, unless you acknowledge you will not able to use your cell, so if you are in the UK I suggest disabling the function in Settings. Apart from the privacy concerns, i.e. you do not know what information is sent when you acknowledge the alert; when the government deems it has a sufficient percentage of the population responding, they will turn off existing alert platforms on Long and Medium Wave, these being receive only preserve your privacy and location data.

1984 Land Based Pirate Documentary with Lawrie Hallett : Something a little different this week. Lawrie Hallett has given Mark Wakely a documentary he made for LBC in 1984. It was never broadcast by them because of the lawyers, but you can hear it now as part of Mark Wakely's podcast series.
