Amazon Fire Tablets and Google Store Installation

Fire 8 HD OS Version: Lollipop MR1 (5.1.1) with the following installed

Google Services Framework com.google.android.gsf_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI22(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

Google Play Services com.google.android.gms_9.8.77_(230-135396225)-9877230_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

Google Account Manager com.google.android.gsf.login_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI21(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

Google Play Store com.android.vending_7.0.25.H-all_0_-80702500_minAPI14(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

Google Sync Adaptors com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts_5.1.1-1965118-22_minAPI22(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

All working fine and updated once installed, all Google apps installed and working including login and contacts Sync.

However I noticed that the device battery was draining overnight even in sleep mode, the device was also running hot. I used various diagnostics to find the app responsible, I could not isolate the cause other than seeing one of the CPU cores running 100%, the Android Zygote process was the cause but I could not see which of the Google apps was causing it.

I tried reboot clear cache and other hard reboot options but this did not solve the problem. Eventually I did a full reset and removed the Google Apps. That fixed the issue and the device would only lose 1 or 2% overnight in standby mode. So I have given up with the Google store and just side-load non-Google apps from the APK get app. I note on the Amazon Fire forums there are lots of issues with battery draining so far no one has connected this with the Google Store install so anyone experiencing battery issues may find this useful.
