Ferry Eden vervolgt het verhaal van de zeezenders : Ferry Eden beschrijft in ‘Radio Monique – de stem van de Noordzee’ de heropleving en het einde van de Nederlandstalige zeezenders in de jaren tachtig. Met aandacht voor Caroline, Monique, Laser, Radio 558 en 819, hun schepen, medewerkers, techniek en organisatie, rijk geïllustreerd.

Ad Roberts op Radio Caroline : Radio Extra Gold gaat op zaterdag 3 oktober en zondag 4 oktober terug in de tijd met historische zeezender uren. Op zaterdag naar 3 oktober 1986 met Peter van der Holst en “Poptiek”  op Radio Monique. Op zondag naar 4 oktober 1979 met Ad Roberts en “Baken 16” op Radio Caroline. Op zaterdag 3 oktober gaat de Extra Gold Historische Zaterdagmiddaggebeurtenis terug met de Top 40 en Tips naar 1967. Nog meer zeezenders hoor je in Goud van Oud (Radio Mi Amigo), Pirate Gold en de 19-tig show (Radio Caroline in 1979 en 1980). 

De Mi Amigo Kronieken 1 : Enige tijd geleden werd Douwe Dijkstra door oud Radio Mi Amigo-technicus Maurice Bokkebroek gevraagd om voor de Facebook-pagina van Mi Amigo La Auténtica periodiek iets te schrijven over zijn herinneringen aan deze Vlaams/Nederlandse zeezender. Douwe is onlangs met pensioen gegaan dus dat wilde hij graag doen. De geschiedenis van dit station is echter al op verschillende websites en in diverse boeken beschreven. Dat gaat Douwe niet herhalen. Hoe dan wel? Dat lees je in dit eerste deel van De Mi Amigo Kronieken.

Fishing vessel Z.592 Hosanna discovered : A mysterious disappearance has finally been solved after 46 years: the fishing vessel Z.592 Hosanna has been officially discovered at the bottom of the English Channel. The vessel had already been located four years ago, but until now it was not certain that it was indeed the missing fishing vessel. For the relatives of the Belgian-Dutch crew, there is now finally complete certainty. In early 1980, the vessel ‘Hosanna’ (Z592) disappeared. No trace of the vessel or its crew members was ever found. Wrak Hosanna gevonden : Op 14 februari 1980 verdween het schip de "Hosanna" (Z592). Van het schip en de vijf bemanningsleden is nooit enig spoor terug gevonden. De Hosanna, van schipper Germain Ackx, was eind jaren 70 en begin jaren 80 o.a. de bevoorradingsboot van het zendschip MV Mi Amigo van Radio Caroline.' Na ruim 46 jaar is het wrak van de vermiste Belgische kotter Hosanna Z-592 voor de kust van Engeland gevonden. Dat melden de Stichting OMV en Omroep West. Op basis van informatie uit de archieven is uitgebreid onderzoek gedaan.

Radio Mi Amigo 272 1979 : Radio KL85 laat met haar programma’s de zeezenders herleven en heeft in de week van 26 september weer veel unieke en historische programma’s van en over de voormalige zenders vanaf zee. Met onder andere de noodoproepen van Rene de Leeuw op 9 september 1978 vanaf het losgeslagen zendschip Aegir van Radio Delmare. Verder Radio Mi Amigo in 1979 met Wim de Groot, Johan Vermeer, Daniël Bolen en Ben van Praag. Maar ook The story of the Pirate Stations 1958-1978 en de wekelijkse programma’s van De Vrienden van de Radio.

Norman St. John overleden : Norman St. John is 21 september op 83-jarige leeftijd overleden. Norman vertrok in 1965 van Australië naar Engeland. Daar werkte hij onder andere voor de zeezenders Radio City en Caroline South. Toen de Mi Amigo strandde op 20 januari 1966 was Norman één van de DJ’s die veilig aan land werd gebracht, samen met Tom Lodge, Tony Blackburn en Dave Lee Travis. Na Caroline werkte Norman voor Radio London en Luxembourg, waarna hij terugkeerde naar Australië. Daar werkte hij nog 10 jaar voor radio en TV waarna hij koos voor de luchtvaart.

Radio stations warned over rush to AI software : Radio stations are being warned not to mistake working AI generated software for a secure and sustainable broadcast system. The warning comes in a blog written by Darren Shortt from The Media Site, looking at the increasing use of AI tools to create playout and other broadcast software. Darren says more stations are experimenting with software created using services including ChatGPT and Claude, but argues that getting something to work is only one part of running technology relied upon around the clock. “A piece of software that works and a sustainable, secure broadcast product are two very different things,” he writes. Geheimzinnigheid rond programma’s voor het Nederlandse leger : In de maand april 1964 stonden er in tal van kranten hele korte berichtjes waarin melding werd gemaakt van het gegeven dat er een samenwerking was tussen onderdelen van het Nederlandse leger en Radio Veronica, waarbij er werd vermeld dat het ging om illegale activiteiten. In ‘de Telegraaf’ van 15 april kreeg de lezer uitgebreidere informatie. UK's Ofcom to offer new opportunities for "small-scale" DAB multiplexes : In February 2026, Ofcom published its Licensing Priorities for Broadcast Radio Consultation, setting out the proposed strategic approach to broadcast radio licensing in the UK. Having considered the stakeholder responses, the regulator says that it will focus on licence priorities in the short-to-medium term to include: "a) new opportunities for SSDAB multiplexes in unserved areas; b) applications from existing SSDAB multiplex licensees to improve or extend the coverage of their multiplex; c) a more flexible approach, where appropriate, in our application of the ‘40% ceiling’ rule regarding SSDAB."

Ofcom to offer more FM and AM radio licences : Ofcom has concluded the future of radio includes more new radio stations around the UK broadcasting on FM and AM. But any new service on the analogue band must be a community-based station, as the regulator says it has zero plans in the short to medium term to allow new commercial radio stations to use FM. The decision follows a consultation launched in February on how the regulator should use its licensing and spectrum resources as the current small scale DAB licensing programme comes towards its conclusion. Ofcom says it will proceed with consideration of new FM community radio licences and has opened a formal “Call for Expressions of Interest” to identify where demand exists. For digital radio, Ofcom will continue licensing small scale DAB multiplexes in unserved areas and prioritise requests from existing operators to improve or extend coverage. Radio North raided : The long-running Irish station Radio North has been taken off the air after being raided by the Irish telecommunication authorities (Comreg). The station, based in County Donegal in North West Ireland, broadcast on 846 kHz and has been on air for 40 years. But on Thursday Comreg officials raided the station and, according to reports, took everything.  Another long-running station, Radio Star Country , which used 981 kHz, went off air as a precaution. Recently there have been a number of Irish pirates appearing on medium wave. But many will no doubt pause activities after this raid which has sent shockwaves through the free radio community.
